The Castlevania video game series is about a war between the vampire hunting family of the Belmonts and Dracula. Almost every hundred years, Dracula is resurrected and the Belmonts must defeat him before he takes over the world. Though most series games involve the Belmonts or their descendants, some protagonists, such as Soma Cruz and Shanoa, are completely unrelated.
The series is loosely based on Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. The novel is included in the official timeline of the series, with Castlevania: Bloodlines taking place shortly afterwards. The connection even goes as far as to claim that Quincy Morris, a character from the novel, is in fact a Belmont descendant.
One of the most famous families of video game legend, the Belmont clan as the heroes has repeatedly saved the world from the tyrannical Dracula and his forces of evil. Along the way, though, some Belmonts received assistance from a friend or two. Needless to say, all of the below have their own personal agendas. The Belmonts always utilize the famous family whip while the others brandish their own tools of destruction.
